Bentonville birth services | Northwest Arkansas doula

Welcome to Bentonville Birth Services — Northwest Arkansas’ premier provider of doula services! We are a team committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based support to pregnant and postpartum people in NWA and beyond. We have a lot to offer pregnant families and are so glad you found us.

What is a doula?

Great question! A doula is a non-medical support person whose main job is facilitating your physical comfort and emotional well-being during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond. We take an individualized approach to every client we work with. But generally a birth doula’s role is:

Educational — teaching you about birth and postpartum, discussing your options, helping you craft a plan you feel confident in

Physical — staying with you throughout labor, recommending position changes, squeezing your hips, ensuring your partner is confident and supported in their role, assisting your breastfeeding experiences

Emotional — providing calm presence so you feel grounded, allowing you time and space to express the wide range of emotions that occur in pregnancy, birth and postpartum, helping you process the joys and challenges of new parenthood

Community-based — connecting our clients with resources to help them thrive. It takes a village of support to nurture a new family and we are happy to partner with mental health providers, lactation consultants, physical therapists and others to truly create a community approach to care. Let us point you in a trusted direction for assistance!

Why Hire a doula?

Studies show a doula’s continuous support during childbirth is associated with a decrease in C-sections, a slightly shorter labor, and better health outcomes for mothers and babies. Families who work with a doula consistently report more positive experiences around their birth than those who did not receive continuous labor support. This sets mothers and babies off to a better start for breastfeeding, bonding, and adjusting to their new lives together.

Some of our “superpowers” include:

  • helping you name your values around birth and parenthood - creating a plan that best aligns with your family culture

  • listening (REALLY listening) to the hopes and fears that arise in this tender time

  • providing context for what to expect during your birth, and how we navigate the unexpected

  • facilitating Spinning Babies techniques to reduce discomfort in pregnancy and promote optimal fetal positioning for delivery

  • reassuring presence to help you find your calm and centered place — even when shit hits the fan

  • advanced breastfeeding education to assist you and your baby in your feeding journey

  • years of experience supporting families in the postpartum period — we ARE the baby whisperers you’re looking for

Postpartum Doulas

The compassionate support and guidance of a doula extends beyond birth itself. Our postpartum doulas are ready to assist in easing your newborn days (and nights!) Hands-on help with baby-feeding, lessons in how to care for your little one, laundry folding and meal prep — postpartum doulas provide excellent support along your journey to parenthood.

Hands-on support, comfort strategies for labor, effective positions for pushing — these are the things people expect from their doula. What’s harder to name is that heart connection when someone truly sees you in your powerful, vulnerable glory and speaks right to your core. “You are doing this and I am so damn proud of you.”

We are here for that.
